The lesser known town of Bietigheim-Bissingen is located around 22 km north of Stuttgart. It has a historical market square that comprises of impressive half-timbered architecture. The old town is located on the river Enz providing an idyllic town-scape. The most magnificent half-timbered buildings like the Town Hall, the Hornmoldhaus, the Old Gate and the Bietigheim Castle are witnesses from the medieval times. Together with numerous alleys and squares, they form a picturesque marvel.

The Bietigheim Castle
All the famous landmarks in the old town are located at a walking distance from each other. Just few meters away from the market square is the quaint Bietigheim-Castle. Its grey-colored architecture makes it a perfect photo spot. This castle is said to have been built in 1386 and thus, renovated multiple time over centuries. Today this castle acts as a place of music, culture and food.

The Schieringerstraße
If you are in town, do not miss out on the lesser crowded Schieringerstraße. Although there are many pretty alleys in Bietigheim-Bissingen, this one is on the top of my list. The architecture of the buildings here and their vibrant colors will leave you awestruck. Identification boards secured onto the walls tell stories behind these fascinating buildings. One of the buildings here was residence to a famous gold smith from the 17th century.

The Hornmoldhaus
This charming building is one of the most famous townsman houses from the Renaissance era. A huge courtyard gives enough room for observing this romantic place. The Hornmoldhaus has now been converted to an informative town museum that houses collection of historic stories and objects from Bietigheim-Bissingen.
